UMSOM Dean: Meet the Candidate Thursday Feb. 17

I鈥檇 like to invite 91大神, Baltimore (UMB) faculty, staff, and students to participate in the third of four Meet the Candidate sessions for the position of dean of the 91大神 School of Medicine.
The in-person session will take place at MSTF Leadership Hall on Thursday, Feb. 17 from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
You will have the opportunity to hear from and ask questions of the candidate, Phyllis A. Dennery, MD, FAAP (see biographical information below).
This is the third of four such sessions. I am grateful for the work of the search committee in bringing such strong candidates for consideration to UMB. Thank you to those who participated in the previous sessions. I look forward to seeing many of you at MSTF Leadership Hall on Thursday.

ABOUT THE CANDIDATE
Phyllis A. Dennery, MD, FAAP
Dr. Dennery is a physician-scientist who is the Sylvia Kay Hassenfeld Professor of Pediatrics and chair, Department of Pediatrics, and professor of Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, and Biochemistry at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She also serves as the pediatrician-in-chief and medical director in the Department of Pediatrics at Hasbro Children鈥檚 Hospital in Rhode Island.
Previously, Dr. Dennery served as director of neonatology research and associate division chief at Stanford University and as division chief in neonatology at the University of Pennsylvania and Children鈥檚 Hospital of Philadelphia.
Dr. Dennery鈥檚 laboratory research is focused on understanding mechanisms of neonatal lung injury and repair.
Dr. Dennery is a member of the National Academy of Medicine, the Association of American Physicians, the American Society of Clinical Investigation, and the American Clinical and Climatologic Association. She has served on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary鈥檚 Advisory Committee on Infant Mortality. In 2013, she was named Mentor of the Year by the Eastern Society for Pediatric Research.
She earned her bachelor鈥檚 degree from McGill University and her medical degree from Howard University. She completed her pediatrics residency at Children鈥檚 Hospital National Medical Center and her postdoctoral fellowship in neonatology at Case Western Reserve University
