Please introduce yourself and describe your role at UMB.
I currently work as the Research Coordinator for Recruitment at the Center for Vaccine Development and Global Health (CVD) in our clinic where I'm primarily responsible for recruiting participants for our adult and pediatric infectious disease clinical studies. Along with this role, I conduct outreach activities on campus to raise awareness about the CVD and to promote our clinical studies. In addition, I manage UMB work study students and interns from various universities to assist our efforts.
During my previous career, I was a Grassroots Manager and a Public Policy Manager, as well as a registered lobbyist in Maryland for over 15 years where I mobilized staff and volunteers to advocate for important cancer issues on the federal, state and local levels. Additionally, I have served in leadership roles for numerous state and local health-related coalitions including being an appointed member on a state advisory council that provided recommendations to the State’s Secretary of Health and Secretary of Education on youth health education and physical activity issues.
Why are you interested in serving on the Staff Senate?
I would like to serve on the staff senate to be a voice for key interests of staff and bridge communication between staff and UMB’s president and leadership team.
What do you hope to accomplish during your term?
I hope to be able to contribute my talents to make a positive impact at UMB and make connections with other staff. Additionally, I would like to be involved with UMB’s community outreach activities.
Describe your hobbies and interests outside of work.
I have many interests and hobbies. I love spending time with my family and friends as well as reading books, writing, watching documentaries, bingewatching shows, and working out at the gym.
