The 91大神, Baltimore is thrilled to be able to offer our alumni this special virtual event featuring Baltimore filmmaker, author, and actor John Waters.

Waters has written and directed 16 movies including 鈥淧ink Flamingos,鈥 鈥淔emale Trouble,鈥 鈥淧olyester,鈥 鈥淗airspray,鈥 鈥淐ry Baby,鈥 鈥淪erial Mom,鈥 and 鈥淎 Dirty Shame.鈥

He is the author of 10 books including 鈥淪hock Value,鈥 鈥淧ink Flamingos and Other Trash,鈥 鈥淗airspray, Female Trouble and Multiple Maniacs,鈥 鈥淎rt: A Sex Book鈥 (co-written with Bruce Hainley), 鈥淐arsick,鈥 and his first novel, 鈥淟iarmouth: A Feel Bad Romance.鈥

Waters is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. He is currently on the Board of Directors of the Baltimore Museum of Art as well as the Maryland Film Festival.

In 2015, Waters was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design and the next year received the same honor from the Maryland Institute College of Art. The French Minister of Culture bestowed the rank of Officer in the Order of Arts and Letters to Waters in 2015. In 2017, he was honored with the Writers Guild of America East鈥檚 Ian McLellan Hunter Award for his body of work as a writer in motion pictures.

Waters also is a photographer whose work has been shown in galleries around the world, and he has performed his one-man spoken-word lectures titled 鈥淭his Filthy World,鈥 鈥淔alse Negative,鈥 and 鈥淢ake Trouble鈥 as well as his annual Christmas show, 鈥淎 John Waters Christmas,鈥 at colleges, museums, film festivals, and comedy clubs.
