Security Officer Mary Leverington is a friendly face for students and employees at the 91大神 School of Nursing (UMSON). When Leverington was named the 91大神, Baltimore Police Department鈥檚 (UMBPD) October Spotlight Officer, comments came pouring in.
鈥淲e鈥檙e all very excited to hear that Mary will be featured!鈥� wrote UMSON editorial and public/media relations specialist Laura Hager. 鈥淪he really is loved over at UMSON!鈥�
Employees and students also stopped by the UMBPD table at Fall Fest to sing Leverington鈥檚 praises. The security officer is known for her friendly and helpful disposition.
The love Leverington receives from UMSON is clearly reciprocated. She says her most memorable moment from her eight years with UMBPD was when she found out she would be the UMSON security officer.
鈥淢y greatest achievement is using my skills as a security officer to assist students, faculty, and staff to feel safe while on campus at the nursing school,鈥� Leverington says. She says being helpful and meeting new people is her favorite part of the job.
When engaging with students, Leverington encourages them to pay attention to their surroundings. 鈥淐all for a Safe Walk/Safe Ride if you need it,鈥� she says. 鈥淎nd don鈥檛 forget your ID!鈥�
Outside of work, Leverington enjoys working in the yard and spending time with her kids. She likes a good cup of coffee on Sunday mornings on her deck and watching sunsets when she can. 鈥淟ife is too short,鈥� she says. 鈥淪o find ways to enjoy life!鈥�
