91大神

University-affiliated blogs provide an opportunity to share expertise, highlight research and initiatives, tell compelling stories, and engage audiences through thoughtful, long-form content. Because these blogs represent the 91大神, Baltimore, they should reflect the University's values, brand, and commitment to accurate, accessible, and professional communication.

The Office of Communications and Public Affairs (OCPA) has established these guidelines to help departments create and manage blogs that are consistent, trustworthy, and aligned with University standards.

Managing Your Blog

Use the resources below to create, manage, and maintain University-affiliated blogs.

University-affiliated blogs must be created by an employee or authorized representative with approval from the department head or their designee.

To ensure continuity and security:

  • Use a University department email address to create and manage the blog. Personal email accounts should never be used.
  • Provide the University's social media specialist with the account information and contact information for all authorized administrators.
  • Assign at least two University employees as blog administrators.
  • Students may not serve as blog administrators.

All uses of University and school logos must be approved by the Office of Communications and Public Affairs (OCPA) before a project is printed, published, or produced.

Submit PDF proofs to Laura Kozak, senior associate vice president for Communications and Public Affairs, for approval.

Before launching a new blog or refreshing an existing one, consider the following recommendations:

  • Choose a clear name. Select a blog name that reflects your department, program, or initiative and aligns with the UMB brand.
  • Use an accessible design. Choose a clean, mobile-friendly template with sufficient color contrast, readable fonts, and clear navigation.
  • Create an informative About page. Explain the purpose of the blog, identify the department or unit, and note that it is affiliated with the 91大神, Baltimore.
  • Use approved branding. Follow University brand standards when using logos, colors, and other visual elements.
  • Select a consistent profile image. Use an approved logo or image that helps readers recognize your blog and avoid changing it frequently.
  • Organize your content. Use categories, tags, and descriptive titles to make posts easier to browse and find.
  • Plan for accessibility. Write descriptive link text, add alternative text for images, use headings properly, and avoid uploading inaccessible PDFs whenever possible.
  • Review before publishing. Proofread content for accuracy, grammar, and broken links, and verify that any images or media have the necessary permissions.

University-affiliated blogs may accept submissions from contributors when appropriate. Submissions should be relevant to the blog's purpose and align with University standards.

Before publishing submitted content:

  • Review submissions for accuracy, relevance, and appropriateness.
  • Credit authorship unless anonymity has been requested and approved.
  • Include links to related resources where appropriate.
  • Do not publish confidential, proprietary, or private information.
  • Follow University policies regarding confidential information, including FERPA and HIPAA.

Blog administrators are responsible for reviewing submissions and determining whether content should be accepted, edited, or declined.

University-affiliated blogs encourage respectful discussion and the exchange of ideas through comments and responses.

Comments should:

  • Be relevant to the topic being discussed.
  • Contribute to constructive conversation.
  • Follow University standards for respectful communication.
  • Avoid profanity, obscenity, harassment, threats, personal attacks, or discriminatory language.
  • Not include spam, advertising, or promotional content.

Blog administrators are responsible for monitoring comments and may remove content that violates these guidelines or applicable University policies.

Comments should not be removed simply because they express disagreement or criticism, provided they remain respectful and follow these guidelines.
