This section outlines A&F’s current communications capacity, highlighting how resources are structured today and where opportunities exist to expand support in order to meet growing communication needs and strategic goals.
Resource Model
Communications for Administration & Finance are primarily supported by a Senior Communications Specialist, who, with the Chief of Staff, executes department-wide communications processes. Responsibilities include internal communications, leadership messaging, digital content, storytelling, and coordination with university communications offices.
Additional communications support exists within some A&F units through staff whose primary responsibilities are operational or administrative. These contributions may include website updates, departmental announcements, or project-specific communications.
This model provides flexibility but relies heavily on a single centralized role to support communications across the department.
As A&F initiatives expand and demand for digital and multimedia communications grows, additional communications support may be considered to strengthen the department’s ability to meet its communications goals.
Potential areas for future capacity include:
- Expanded centralized communications support to coordinate messaging across divisions and initiatives
- Media and multimedia production to enhance storytelling through photography, video, and visual content
- Website governance and digital content management to support consistent, accessible, and up-to-date web content
Additional communications capacity would support more proactive storytelling, improve coordination across A&F units, and enhance visibility of the department’s contributions to the university’s mission.
